The championship was like any other, except we had some big prizes. The shoot-off winners Roger and Casey, both took home a trued SA Remington 700 with Sako Claw extractor. The shoot-off participants (John M., Casey, Roger and Gary C.) all were closer than two coats of paint; but Casey won group shoot-off and Roger won Score shoot-off. Norbert had small group of the day, and was the lucky (or skilled) winner of Wilson 6mm Dasher dies. Good shooting guys, it was a fun match!

John And Wayne Malmstrom Today sign up began at 8:00 A.M. mountain time zone, and shooting started at 9 A.M. Most shooters would concur the conditions were tricky today. We had switchy winds that would change from the time sight-in was finished and the record target was shot; sometimes up to a minute of windage change. Some shooters landed their groups outside of the scoring rings of the targets, because even the flags were deceptive. Strangely, nobody had groups under two inches, but Steve fielded a new Broughton barrel in 6 Dasher and had a 2.2 inch group and held decent consistency throughout the aggregate. The sun was out and so were the snakes. You don't have to worry about these snakes as they usually mind their own business, and they actually do the range a good deed. The snakes are of the non-venomous variety and they help keep the rodent population down. Rattlesnakes have been spotted in the past, so you must be alert, but usually aren't spotted on a typical range outing. |
